This is the poster I was supposed to create. I based it around my dream sequence film.

Unit B Diary Assessment 2

Today I was introduced to the digital creator and how it would help my skills and how it will help me achieve. I also filled in a Portfoloi sheet for the movie poster i will be doing. These will be the photos i will use on my post:

Studio And Poster Photos

I set up a studio in a classroom. I set it up because I needed to tske pictures for my Film Poster. I used my classmate for my model and my subject. I wanted to create a hostile background therefore I used dark lighting to set the sinister mood. It was great fun but the hard part was to get the picture correctly exposed and to make the subject seem clear in the photo because since it was greatly under exposed the subject seem blurry even if he moved the slightest fraction. He had to stay very still and since the lights were he had to keep hydrated. Other than that it was great fun.

Basketball Diaries

1.    The movie title is easy to read and it is written like a child would write which already explains that the film will be about a child.

2.    The main character is shown which is Leonardo Dicaprio. Who is the main character

3.    The movie poster design is very simple because the title is in big letters and also the picture quality is not very good which suggests that the film is also quite old.

4.     No other images are included in the poster it is a bit boring. Because there is nothing interesting in the poster no special effects in it also.

5.    The only text on the poster is the big title and the and groups  of people which are in the film and the things that are happening in the film.

6.    No other information is included for example no creator or the studio that made it.

Inception

Inception

1.     The text is easy to read because the headings are easy to read because of the font. The film title is in very big capital letters and they are also bold to highlight the weird name of the film. This causes interest because not much information is given for the film itself.

2.     Yes the main characters are shown because they help the poster look better because every character is at a different angle which helps to give mystique to the film because the audience starts wondering what is happening which will make the audience go and pay to watch this film.

3.     The design of the movie poster has a weird angle to it because every character in the poster is either sideways or upside down. The mood of the film seems a bit sad and strange because the sunlight is focused behind the characters not on top of the poster because that’s where the sun should be but it gives a great effect because the buildings the characters are standing on different buildings.

4.     The only image included in the poster is all the main characters from the film in different angles, the frame for this poster is full because the poster goes out of the edge and the characters are at different angles.

5.     There is no telling or catch phrase in the poster. There is no telling of the story because the story is hidden because the poster is not revealing nothing other than it will be fantasy.

6.     The most important information is the actors involved in the film and also the title because it means an idea formed in someone’s head. Also the creators of the film and who and what company it was made.

This poster is every poster very effective because it tells nothing about the movie and it wants the audience to go and see it to reveal everything.

 

Lighting Set Up

Using a classroom we set up a 3 point lighting set up. We had to photograph people and make sure the exposure was correct and the subject was lit up correctly. We had the help of the backlight  which helped make the subject seem more 3D. we also had a MOD (Main light) which outlined the subject better and helped us determine the brightnes we needed to make a correct exposure picture. we experimented with some setting and took portraits aswell. Also The Infill light has less light than the main light but it helps to take away most of the shadows created by the MOD light. This is the picture that I took. This picture was without the back light thats why you can see the shadow outlining the subjects face.

Camera Obscura

On Thursday I had to make my own camera Obscura which included a Pringles tube. it was like the one we saw in a video except this one did not involve blacking out a room.

The steps to doing this are:
1. To have a pringles tube a tall one not one of the small ones. you need to cut it in half about 4 inches from the bottom.
2. you have to make sure the lid fit onto the bottom part (the part of the tube that is only 4 inches long). Afterwards put tissue paper on there and make sure it stays there with the lid holding it. the tissue paper has to be stretched out and not creased.
3. you have to make a pin hole piercing in the bottom of the 4 inch long tube in the exact middle for it to work correctly.
4. You have to duck tape both the parts of the pringles tube together. you have to make sure they are both together straight to make it work properly.
5. Go outside on a sunny day and you should be able to see the world as never before.
